Economic Impact. Virtual Workshop: South Africa and the pandemic

The impact of the crisis on the people of South Africa is manifold and far from predictable at this point of time. But it has already relentlessly exposed many of the systemic deficiencies, some of which were already known before. With this virtual workshop we would like to invite you to a first approach with partners and speakers from South Africa and Germany.

In March, the South African government imposed one of the strictest lockdowns in the world. In attempting to curb the spread of COVID-19, policy makers around the world have the difficult task of balancing the positive health impacts of lockdowns against their economic costs, particularly the burden that lockdowns impose on low-income and food-insecure households.
